Install Rosetta 2 via Command Line on Apple Silicon Mac (M1)
Rosetta is a translation process that allows users to run apps that contain x86_64 instructions on new Apple silicon processors.
In most cases MacOS will detect when a non-native app is opened and provide an installation prompt. However Rosetta must sometimes be installed manually.
To install Rosetta manually, follow the instructions below:
- Click (1) Go > (2) Utilities:
- Double-click Terminal:
Type the following into the terminal window (or copy the following and paste it into the terminal window) and press Return:

- Type in A and press the return key to agree to the licensing agreement:
