SigmaXL Version 8.1 - "Error 2343: Specified path is empty" when attempting to install SigmaXL



This error typically occurs when Microsoft Office is installed in a non-standard directory. An example of this would be if Office was downloaded and installed directly from the Microsoft Store. To resolve this issue, complete the steps listed below:

Microsoft Office (32 bit)


  1. Follow the link below to download the SigmaXL zip archive:

  2. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the zip file and select "Properties":



  3. In the General tab, click "Unblock" to place a check in the empty checkbox as shown, then click OK:



  4. Back in the folder where the SigmaXL zip was downloaded, right click the file and click "Extract All..."



  5. In the Select a Destination and Extract Files window, enter "C:\Program Files (x86)without quotes and click "Extract". Alternatively, click "Browse..." to manually navigate to select the C:\Program Files (x86) directory:



  6. Click "Continue" to provide administrator permission:



  7. Download the SigmaXL DLL zip archive for 32 bit Office.

  8. Once the download completes, navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the zip file and select "Properties":



  9. In the General tab, click "Unblock" to place a check in the empty checkbox as shown, then click OK:



  10. In the folder where the file SigmaXL_32-bit_dlls.zip was downloaded, right click the file and select "Extract All...":



  11. Ensure a checkmark is next to the option to "Show extracted files when complete" is by clicking it and press the "Extract" button:



  12. Select the entire contents of the "SigmaXL_32-bit_dlls" folder, right-click and select "Copy":

    Press Ctrl+a on your keyboard to select all, followed by Ctrl+c to copy the contents of the folder.



  13. Navigate to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64", click the "Home" menu and select "Paste":



  14. Navigate to "C:\Windows\System32", click the "Home" menu and select "Paste":

    Most modern installations of Windows are installed as 64 bit. However, if a 32 bit version of Windows is installed, simply extract the files to C:\Windows\System32. There will not be a C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory. To determine which version of Windows is installed click here.
