Add an exclusion to Windows Security


If Windows Security has incorrectly flagged SigmaXL as untrusted, SigmaXL can be added to Windows Defender's exclusions list. 

A common symptom of this is the The following error message when starting SigmaXLthe add-in is a common symptom of it being blocked:

  1. Click  Start  >  Settings.

  2. Scroll down and click  Update & Security:



  3. Click (1)  Windows Security > (2)  Virus & threat protection:

    Tip

    In Image Modified Virus & threat protection settings, select Protection history to view the blocked actions:

    Each item in the list can be clicked to expand and to review if SigmaXL/Excel is being blocked by Windows security settings:




  4. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings:



  5. Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions:



  6. Click (1) Add an exclusion, and select (2) File:



  7. Navigate to the SigmaXL folder, select SigmaXL.xlam and click Open.

    For 32-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\SigmaXL\{version}\SigmaXL.xlam:


    For 64-bit:C:\Program Files\SigmaXL\{version}\SigmaXL.xlam:



  8. SigmaXL is now being excluded from Windows Defender
