Add an exclusion to Windows Security


If Windows Security has incorrectly flagged SigmaXL as untrusted, SigmaXL can be added to Windows Microsoft Defender's exclusions list.

SigmaXL being blocked by security software is the following error

message when starting SigmaXL

  1. Click  Start  > Image RemovedImage Added Settings.

  2. Scroll down and click Image RemovedImage Added Update & Security:



  3. Click (1)  Windows Security > (2) Image RemovedImage Added Virus & threat protection:

    Tip

    In Image RemovedImage Added Virus & threat protection settings, select Image Added Protection history to view the blocked actions:

    Each item in the list can be clicked to expand and to review if SigmaXL/Excel is being blocked by Windows security settings:




  4. Under Image Added Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings:



  5. Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions:



  6. Click (1) + Add an exclusion, and select (2) FileFolder:

  7. Navigate to the SigmaXL folder for your installed bit-version, (1) single-click the folder

    , select SigmaXL.xlam and click Open.

    to highlight it, and click the (2) Select Folder button:

    For 32-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\SigmaXL

  8. SigmaXL is now being excluded from Windows Defender Defender.

    Click Privacy & security Image Removed:

  2. Click (1) Privacy & security > (2) Image Added Windows Security:

  3. In Windows Security, click Image Added Virus & threat protection:
