Add an exclusion to Windows Security


To check if Windows Defender is blocking SigmaXL:

  1. Click  Start  >  Settings.

  2. Scroll down and click  Update & Security:



  3. Click (1)  Windows Security > (2)  Virus & threat protection:

    Tip

    In Image Modified Virus & threat protection settings, select Protection history to view the blocked actions

    Each item in the list can be clicked to expand and to review if SigmaXL/Excel is being blocked by Windows security settings:

  2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings:

  3. Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions:

  4. Click (1) Add an exclusion, and select (2) File:

  5. Navigate to the SigmaXL folder, select SigmaXL.xlam and click Open.

    For 32-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\SigmaXL\{version}\SigmaXL.xlam:

    For 64-bit:C:\Program Files\SigmaXL\{version}\SigmaXL.xlam:

  6. SigmaXL is now being excluded from Windows Defender

If Windows Security has incorrectly flagged SigmaXL as untrusted, you can prevent it from blocking it by adding the folder to the exclusions list.

  4. Click Virus & threat protection:
  5. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings:
  6. Under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions:
  7. Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. A folder exclusion will apply to all subfolders within the folder as well.
