Add an exclusion to Windows Security

To check if Windows Defender is blocking SigmaXL:

 Windows 10 Instructions
  1. Click  Start  >  Settings.

  2. Scroll down and click  Update & Security:



  3. Click (1)  Windows Security > (2)  Virus & threat protection:

In  Virus & threat protection settings, select Protection history to view the blocked actions.
Each item in the list can be clicked to expand and to review if SigmaXL/Excel is being blocked by Windows security settings.

 Windows 11 Instructions
  1. Click Start  > Settings .

  2. Click Privacy & security :






If Windows Security has incorrectly flagged SigmaXL as untrusted, you can prevent it from blocking it by adding the folder to the exclusions list. 

 Windows 10 Instructions
  1. Click Start > Settings:
  2. Click Update & Security:
  3. Click Windows Security:
  4. Click Virus & threat protection:
  5. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings:
  6. Under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions:

  7. Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. A folder exclusion will apply to all subfolders within the folder as well.
