Troubleshooter - DiscoverSim

Issue

DiscoverSim is not working or my results appear incomplete.






  1. Clear DiscoverSim Saved Defaults

  2. Ensure Microsoft Excel is up to date

  3. Ensure all required Microsoft Visual Basic C++ Redistributables are installed

  4. Attempt to run a simulation using a sample model

Step 1. Clear DiscoverSim Saved Defaults

Many issues can be resolved by simply clearing DiscoverSim's saved defaults. To do so, click (1) DiscoverSim > (2) Help > (3) Clear Saved Defaults:

Step 2. Ensure Microsoft Excel is up to date 

Issues can sometimes occur if MS Excel is not up to date. Confirm that the most recent updates for your version of Office have been installed.

  1. Open Excel and click File:

  2. Click Account:

     

     

  3. Click the Update Options button:

     

  4. Select Update Now:

     

  5. If updates for Office are available, you will be presented with the following. Please allow some time for the updates to complete:

     

  6. When the updates are finished installing, the Microsoft update window will disappear and Excel can be opened.

Excel versions 2013 and older are no longer supported by Microsoft or SigmaXL.

.Step 3.. Ensure all required Microsoft Visual Basic C++ Redistributables are installed 

Visual Basic C++ redistributable libraries are available in both 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions. The version you require is determined by your bit version of Microsoft Office, not your bit version of Windows. Download and install the correct redistributable for your bit-version of Excel.

Step 4. Attempt to run a simulation using a sample model 

Use the link below to download our quick simulation example:

https://www.sigmaxl.com/DiscoverSim/MyFirstSimulation.xlsx

After downloading the file, open MyFirstSimulation.xlsx and attempt to use DiscoverSim's Run Simulation feature (DiscoverSim > Run Simulation) using the default values.

If the sample model worked, then there is likely a unique function and/or setting in your custom model which is causing the issue. Contact us at support@sigmaxl.com for more information.
