Issue

SigmaXL is not working or my results appear incomplete.

This troubleshooter is for SigmaXL for Windows. Click here for the SigmaXL troubleshooter for Mac.

  1. Clear SigmaXL Saved Defaults

  2. Ensure the bit-version of Excel matches the installed bit-version of SigmaXL

  3. Ensure all applicable C++ Redistributable Libraries have been installed

  4. Ensure SigmaXL is compatible with your version of Excel

  5. Move core SigmaXL files to the Windows system folders

Step 1. Clear SigmaXL Saved Defaults

Many issues can be resolved by simply clearing SigmaXL’s saved defaults. To do this, click SigmaXL > Help > SigmaXL Defaults > Clear Saved Defaults:

Clear Saved Defaults in SigmaXL

Step 2. Ensure the bit-version of Excel matches the installed bit-version of SigmaXL

SigmaXL must use the same bit-version as Excel.

To confirm which version of Excel is installed, click Excel’s File menu, then click (1) Account > (2) About Excel. The bit-version of Excel will be listed at the end of the first line as shown below:

In the screenshot above, the bit-version of Excel is 64-bit.

To check the bit version of SigmaXL, open a file explorer window and navigate to the associated location for your bit-version of Excel:

  • 64-bit: C: \ Program Files \ SigmaXL

  • 32-bit: C: \ Program Files (x86) \ SigmaXL

If SigmaXL is installed in the wrong folder for your bit-version of Excel, completely uninstall, then reinstall SigmaXL.

Step 3. Ensure all applicable C++ Redistributable Libraries have been installed

Visual Basic C++ redistributable libraries are available in both 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions. The version you require is determined by your bit version of Microsoft Office, not your bit version of Windows. Download and install the correct redistributable for your bit-version of Excel.

Step 4. Ensure SigmaXL is compatible with your version of Excel

SigmaXL is updated regularly to ensure compatibility with the latest Microsoft Office releases.

Older versions of SigmaXL may not be compatible with newer versions of Microsoft Office.

To determine if your version of SigmaXL is compatible with your version of Excel, please send your SigmaXL serial number (license key) to Support@SigmaXL.com to verify your version number.

Unsupported versions of SigmaXL

Note: If you are using an older version of SigmaXL and are experiencing issues, many issues are resolved by upgrading.

Step 5. Move core SigmaXL files to Windows system folders

Sometimes it is necessary to move core SigmaXL files to system folders, typically because Excel is unable to locate them.
