Determine whether to install SigmaXL 32-bit or 64-bit

The SigmaXL installation file automatically chooses the appropriate bit version of SigmaXL to install for your version of Excel. In some circumstances, installation can only be completed through the use of an executable installation file (.exe).

There are two different executable versions of the SigmaXL installer for Windows: 32-bit and 64-bit.

Important Note

Note that it is absolutely possible to have a 64-bit version of Windows with a 32-bit version of Office.
The 64-bit version of SigmaXL should only be installed on systems with a 64-bit version of Office. Most users will require the 32-bit version of SigmaXL as Microsoft Office is installed in 32-bit by default.

The method to verify the installed version of Excel does not differ much between each version. Generally, click File > Account > About Excel:

Or, in the case of Excel 2010, File > Help:

In the above scenarios, a user would want to install the 32-bit version of SigmaXL, available for download in the link below:

However, if 64-bit Office 2010 or later is installed, download SigmaXL from the link below:

If you install a version of SigmaXL that is incompatible with your Excel bit-type, you will see a notification window instructing you to contact support@sigmaxl.com to request the correct version.

Please see the screenshot below:

You may also encounter the error below if you install the incorrect version of SigmaXL.

This error can easily be resolved by uninstalling SigmaXL, and re-installing the version appropriate for your Office platform.

If you are having difficulty determining the bit-type of Excel, or replacing the version of SigmaXL currently installed on your system, please contact support@sigmaxl.com.
