Determine whether to install SigmaXL 32-bit or 64-bit

The SigmaXL installation file automatically chooses the appropriate bit version of SigmaXL to install for your version of Excel. In some circumstances, installation can only be completed through the use of an executable installation file (.exe).

There are two different executable versions of the SigmaXL installer for Windows: 32-bit and 64-bit.

Windows and Office can have different bit-versions

Note that it is absolutely possible to have a 64-bit version of Windows with a 32-bit version of Office.

Click Excel's File menu, then click (1) Account > (2) About Excel:

In the above scenario, the 64-bit version of SigmaXL should be installed.

The bit version of SigmaXL can be determined by checking which Program Files folder the application installed in.

  • 32-bit SigmaXL: Located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SigmaXL

  • 64-bit SigmaXL: Located in C:\Program Files\SigmaXL

If an incompatible version of SigmaXL has been installed for the existing Excel bit-type, or if Office was recently upgraded to a different bit-version, completely uninstall SigmaXL before reinstalling it.

If you are having difficulty determining the bit-type of Excel, or replacing the version of SigmaXL currently installed on your system, please contact support@sigmaxl.com.
