SigmaXL Version 9.1 - Specified Path is Empty

SigmaXL Version 9.1 - "Error 2343: Specified path is empty" when attempting to install SigmaXL



This error typically occurs when Microsoft Office comes pre-installed or it was installed by the Microsoft Store.

To resolve this, select your installed version of Office:



Important Note

The bit version of Office is often different than the bit version of Windows. The installation of SigmaXL is dependent on the bit version of Office. Click here to determine which bit version of Office is installed.




Microsoft Office (32 bit)


  1. Follow the link below to download the SigmaXL zip archive:


  2. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the zip file and select Properties:





  3. In the General tab, click (1) Unblock to place a check in the empty checkbox as shown, then click (2) OK:





  4. Back in the folder where SigmaXL_V9.1_32-bit.zip was downloaded, right-click the file and click Extract All...





  5. In the Select a Destination and Extract Files window, enter C:\Program Files (x86) and click Extract. Alternatively, click Browse... to manually navigate to select the C:\Program Files (x86) directory:





  6. Click Continue to provide administrator permission:





  7. Download SXL_Stats_V9.1_32-bit


  8. After the download completes, navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the file and select Extract All...:




  9. Ensure a checkmark is next to the option to "Show extracted files when complete" is by clicking it and press the Extract button:




  10. Right-click the SXL_Stats folder in SXL_Stats_V9.1_32-bit and select Copy:




  11. Navigate to (1) "C:\Windows\SysWOW64", click the (2) Home menu and select (3) Paste:





32 bit Windows Users

Most modern installations of Windows are installed as 64 bit. However, if a 32 bit version of Windows is installed, extract the files to C:\Windows\System32. To determine which version of Windows is installed click here.

 

I have followed these steps and SigmaXL is still not working

If the issue continues after completing the steps listed above, extract the entire contents of the SXL_Stats_V9.1_32-bit.zip file which was downloaded in step #7 to C:\Windows\System32.




Microsoft Office (64 bit)




  1. Follow the link below to download the SigmaXL zip archive:


  2. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the zip file and select Properties:

  6. Click "Continue" to provide administrator permission:




  7. Download SXL_Stats_V9.1_64-bit.zip.


  8. After the download completes, navigate to the location where you downloaded the file (typically located in Downloads), right click the file and select Extract All...:




  9. Ensure a checkmark is next to the option to (1) "Show extracted files when complete" is by clicking it and press the (2) Extract button:




  10. Right-click the SXL_Stats folder in SXL_Stats_V9.1_32-bit and select Copy:




  11. Navigate to (1) "C:\Windows\SysWOW64", click the (2) Home menu and select (3) Paste:





Close any open windows and attempt to launch SigmaXL using Excel's File > Open. Click here for instructions.
